Lentil Burgers

Most people really love The Kitchen Skinny black bean burger. Here is another burger recipe to try out – This time featuring lentils.


1 large avocado (peeled and sliced)

1 large carrot (chopped)

1 large stalk celery (chopped)

4 leaves lettuce

½ cup mushrooms (finely chopped)

¼ regular red onion (sliced thinly)

1 large tomato (sliced)

1 Tbsp parsley (finely chopped)

1 package Ezekiel English Muffins

¼ cup walnuts (finely chopped)

2 cups brown rice (cooked)

1 ½ cups lentils (green) (cooked)

1 large egg (shelled and beaten)

coconut oil

1 tsp thyme

½ tsp dulse

½ tsp black pepper

1/8 tsp cayenne


  1. Gather your ingredients.
  2. Cook rice and lentils as per package.
  3. Measure out spices. Chop carrots, celery, parsley, mushrooms, and walnuts.
  4. Sauté carrots, celery, parsley, mushrooms, and walnuts over medium heat for about 5-7 min.
  5. Move to large bowl and set aside.
  6. Prepare burger toppings red onion, avocado, tomato, and lettuce. Set aside.
  7. Shell and beat egg. By now rice and lentils should be done.
  8. Add 1 cup of brown rice, 1 ½ cup(s) of lentils, 1 egg into your food processor and puree.
  9. Add the puree and 1 cup(s) brown rice (whole) to the vegetables.
  10. Mix well with fork or spoon.
  11. Form into patties.
  12. Heat 1 ½ Tbsp coconut oil in pan over medium-high heat. Cook burgers 5 min (or until golden brown). Flip and cook another 5 min (or until golden brown).
  13. Serve on bun with toppings and side green salad.
