Fennel Pizza
Don’t let the name of this one fool you. It is awesome! So many great flavors in this pizza. Everyone loved this one!
Ingredients
½ cup basil
1 bulb fennel (thinly sliced)
3 clove garlic (peeled & pressed)
1 ¼ regular yellow onions (1 thinly sliced and ¼ chopped)
2 large tomatoes (quartered)
1 cup mozzarella cheese (shredded)
½ cup kalamata olives (chopped)
Wheat pizza dough
cornmeal
whole wheat flour
½ tsp dulse
1 ¼ tsp oregano
¼ tsp thyme
¼ tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Gather your ingredients.
- Prepare your pizza dough as per package. Pre heat oven to 450.
- Prepare sauce ingredients: cut tomatoes, chop basil, peel 3 cloves garlic, chop ¼ onion, 1 tsp oregano.
- Place all sauce ingredients into your Vitamix and blend smooth and set aside.
- Slice onion, fennel, and measure out oregano (1/4 tsp), dulse, and black pepper.
- Over medium heat, cook onions, fennel, and spices until cooked well, stirring frequently (about 20 min).
- While the onions and fennel are cooking, grate the cheese and roll out pizza dough.
- Spread sauce on top of pizza dough.
- Add cooked onion, fennel, cheese and olives.
- Place in oven and cook until cheese is melted and crust is browned (about 10 – 12 min).
- Serve with green salad.
